Shortly after it was learned that Corazon Aquino had been sworn in as president of the Philippines, Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos appeared on a Malacanang balcony to address their supporters. A few hours later, they were on their way to exile in Guam.
Kim Komenich won the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for spot news photography for his coverage of the Philippine People's Revolution while a staff photographer at the San Francisco Examiner.
